The mobile phones, effective tool for physicians in Africa


text messages to remind you of appointments or to announce the results of the analysis, free calls to physicians: Mobile phones have become an indispensable tool for health in Africa.

"It works because every time I consult my mobile," says the forties, waiting their turn in the Themba Lethu clinic in Johannesburg.
The application, dubbed txtAlert has been created by the foundation Praekelt. Health centers only pay for SMS. While patients when they need to change your appointment, you can send a free message: "Please call me."
Another advantage is that the system minimizes absenteeism. Since its inception in 2007, the number of appointments which are not will have fallen 15% in Themba Lethu.
